Guide to buying pool pumps and equipment on Amazon & Home Depot

Amazon is an amazing place to get essentially everything a homeowner would need or want, however for swimming pool pumps, heaters, etc. we urge caution on purchasing pumps and heaters online as many companies will not install them due to liability. Many less known manufactureres do not have proper wiring diagrams, or detailed manuals. There are many instances where homeowners have purchased pumps online, attempted to install themselves (which should be pretty straighforward), and have been unable to do so due to the lack of detailed instructions.

Other reason is lack of warranty support, which can be 30-90 days, versus 1-3 years for established brands like Pentair and Hayward. Inexpensive brands are not designed to be repaired as parts and labor often exceed the cost of the original pump.

Example below is of a Max Power Eco Series pump purchased from Amazon. This is what consumers may encounter.

Recommendation is to purchase through a local pool store (like us), or stick to well known brands, like Hayward, Pentair, Waterways, or even Doheny's.
